How Does an Online Nutritionist Work?

The internet has brought the world to our fingertips. We were once limited to the products carried at our local strip-mall, but now with companies like Amazon we can expand our product selection to billions of choices. Why should a nutritionist be any different?

Advantages of Online Nutrition
Greater Than Yesterday Nutrition meets with clients locally, by phone, text, Skype or Facetime. This allows easier access for meetings and does not limit by distance. As a client, this is a huge advantage for you as well. No need to drive, sit in a waiting room, receive nutrition coaching only to drive home again. The typical 20-30 minute session can mean 75-90 minutes! It’s all about working smarter and not harder. Use that extra time to start prepping and planning meals!
Just like your favorite pair of perfect fitting jeans, online nutrition coaching allows you to find the perfect ‘fit’ in a nutritionist . As with most disciplines, nutritionists have slightly different approaches and personalities It is important to understand how your nutritionist works before signing up. It needs to be a fit for YOU.
At GTYN, I focus on individual daily caloric needs to meet a goal (maintain, gain muscle, lose fat, etc) and then tailor a flexible plan to meet not on your goals but your lifestyle as well. I can work with you to create a full day meal plan, but I do not plan out every calorie for the entire three or six months. Ultimately, my goal is to teach you to make these decisions yourself in an informed manner. You’ll never see a binder of one-size fits all standardized meal plan choices at GTYN.
Another advantage is the availability. You are no longer limited to questions once a week during a scheduled meeting. With GTYN online nutrition coaching, you can email questions anytime you run across one.

A Typical Online Session
Typically, the first meeting is longest meeting where we will discuss your current eating habits, diets or meal plans you have tried in the past, goals, activities, food preferences, food allergies, meal timing, water consumption, food tracking, etc. Using information from this meeting a plan with be created specifically for you.
Each week, you will receive an email with a review of your food intake. This review will include suggestions of food/products you may enjoy, recipes, tips/tricks, etc.
Follow up meetings will be shorter in nature, generally 15-20 minutes, but can be longer if you have additional questions. During these meetings, we will discuss any questions that you may have and get feedback on what types of information are most helpful for you to meet your goals. If needed, adjustments to your plan will be made to ensure it’s specific and right for you.
